''Jazz Track'' (CL 1268) is a 1958 album by Miles Davis, released by Columbia Records.〔(''Jazz Track'' ), Discogs.com, accessed May 5, 2015〕 Side 1 is the American issue of material recorded for the soundtrack of the 1958 Louis Malle film ''Ascenseur pour l'échafaud'',〔(December 4, 1957 Session Details ), Miles Ahead: A Miles Davis Website, accessed May 5, 2015〕 and previously released in Europe as a 10 inch LP on the Fontana label.〔(''Ascenseur pour l'échafaud'' ), Discogs.com, accessed May 5, 2015〕 The soundtrack was recorded in Paris, December 4, 1957, using local musicians, including American expat drummer Kenny Clarke. Side 2 consists of newly released material recorded by his sextet, May 26, 1958.〔(May 26, 1958 Session Details ), Miles Ahead: A Miles Davis Website, accessed May 5, 2015〕 These were the same musicians who would soon record ''Kind of Blue'', including pianist Bill Evans. The sextet material was later rereleased under the title ''1958 Miles'', with live recordings from the same year replacing the soundtrack material.
